Volume VII of the Speaking Archaeologically Journal addresses pressing questions within the heritage sector by focusing on three critical themes: Local and Oral Histories in Archaeology, Decolonisation and Archaeology, and innovative research approaches to archaeological sites. Bringing together diverse perspectives from scholars and practitioners, the volume highlights the importance of community voices, inclusive narratives, and emerging methodologies, from digital tools to community-led initiatives, in shaping contemporary archaeological practice. Through these contributions, the journal seeks to promote a more responsive, collaborative, and forward-looking archaeology that acknowledges the complexities of the past while engaging meaningfully with the present and future.

With the outbreak of Covid-19, archaeology and archaeological research suffered some heavy setbacks worldwide. However, analysis of material culture and recording sites was still achieved in isolation and this journal is a nod to all such exploratory efforts and studies conducted by various scholars pan India despite the pandemic. A fantastic repository of papers featuring Object Analysis, recording virgin sites and debates on issues before archaeology in the post-pandemic world, this journal is a collaborative effort of several scholarly works from all across the country.

The Bhima Devi Project has been the biggest and the most ambitious project carried out by the Members of the Chandigarh Research Wing and this journal publishes everything right from the preliminary reports to the final analyses on the temples of the Gurjar-Pratiharas. Our most well received journal, the Bhima Devi Edition of Speaking Archaeologically is now available on public domain for access.

The Second Volume of our Journal features two of our most ambitious projects: the Baolis of Delhi, spearheaded by the students of the Delhi Research Wing and the Stupas of East and West Punjab, carried out by students of the Chandigarh Research Wing in collaboration with Qaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. One of our most widely read journals, the Volume II of Speaking Archaeologically is now available on public domain.
